Ephesians 4:14-16
In Ephesians 4:14 (NKJV) the phrase “that we should” reminds us to look back at the previous verses leading up to verse 14 giving us the basis for what is about to be said. Ephesians 4:15–16 is a cornerstone in Christ Jesus for ministry; “speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head – Christ – from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.”
This is a command, example, and promise that if we all share our individual gifts of fellowship given to us by Christ through His Holy Spirit which lives in us, we will all help each other grow in our relationship with Christ.
The Apostle Paul reiterates the edifying of the Church in Ephesians 4:16 as he did in Ephesians 4:12. This should reiterate within each of us the importance that each of us adds to the growth of the Church by sharing our knowledge about the Scripture with one another as we learn and grow in our individual relationships with Christ Jesus which in turn adds to the growth of the Church – in Christ.
Dear Lord,
I pray that You will truly bless each person in realizing the gifts that You have given us and inspire us to put into action those gifts as we seek Your guidance in Your word each day. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
